if it’s someone who already follows me: a fandom blog, in the same fandoms as me, posts i haven’t seen a ton. also, a fandom based url and a clean, simple theme with a tagging system is great.
if i’m just browsing: a fandom blog, pretty graphics/edits, or if my friends/followers promo/recommend them. often, if i see a graphic i like, i’ll go to the source and follow that person.
if i’m doing blogrates: same fandoms, cool posts. i’m much more likely to follow someone during a blog rate than just browsing around.
reasons i won’t follow someone: too many reblogged/unrelated text posts or tons of those popular social justice reblogs (a few are ok, but it can get repetitive), tons of gifs, or non fandom posts.
